They want their needs fulfilled, plain and simple. Your job is to convince consumers that the product or service you’re selling them will meet their expectations. You must concentrate on the benefits they will receive if they do decide to buy your product or service. What can your business do for them to make their lives easier or better? When you answer that question, then the type of content message you’re portraying will drive results.
2. Not changing up your content marketing message
Your message should change depending on the type of marketing outlet you’re using. You should get right to the point without any type of confusion. When your consumers request a direct-mail piece, your message should be detailed, answer questions, and create a sense of urgency to boost your response rate.
3. Using the same content marketing message on all network media outlets
Different audiences will respond to different messages depending on their demographics, behaviors and experiences. If you’re writing a sales copy for a direct-mail piece to your established customers, then your message should be very different from those that would appear in a mailing to potential prospects. While one audience is already familiar with your products and services, the other might have no prior experience or knowledge to pull from. Remember, the message to both audiences must be different if you want to achieve the highest response.
4. Not using simple terms in your content marketing
The language and tone of your marketing content should speak volume to the people who are likely to see it. If you’re writing for senior citizens, your copy should be quite different from copy targeted at teens, for example. You want to try and stay away from jargon unless your marketing sales copy is popular and calls for an audience that already understands and expects it. A business-to-business ad copy might be an appropriate place for jargon; but it depends on the target audience that you want responding to that particular marketing message.

Which is why learning how to write content is important for any business. If you decide to write your own marketing sales copy, learn how to do it the right way before putting it to pen and paper. On the other hand, if you decide to outsource this type of work, find someone who has experience in this field.
