Become an eBay affiliate and earn money even when your visitors DON’T buy from you!

Selling on eBay is not the only way to make money from the online auction site. You can also become an eBay affiliate by joining their affiliate program and promoting eBay through your own web site.

Top eBay affiliates work full-time to make thousands of dollars a month doing exactly this! And many more people make a few hundred dollars a month to supplement their main businesses.

What is an affiliate program?
Affiliate programs are referral programs that allow you to promote other people’s products…and receive a commission for doing so. As an “affiliate,” you can place banner ads, text links, and other information on your web site, and encourage visitors to click on these links and go to the web site of the company running the affiliate program.

All of the click-throughs are tracked using special software and, every time a visitor clicks through to the site from your web site and makes a purchase…you receive a fee! Many affiliate programs — including eBay’s, which we’ll talk about later — continue to pay commissions for every other product that person then subsequently buys!

It’s a win-win situation for all involved…the company running the affiliate program makes more sales, and the affiliate themselves earn an income through their referrals. To illustrate the money-making potential of this, the Internet Marketing Center’s affiliate program generated almost $2 million last year, with some of our top affiliates earning commissions of up to $8,000 a month!

Maximize your auction earnings by joining eBay’s affiliate program

If you have a web site or blog that you use to direct traffic to your eBay auctions, becoming an eBay affiliate is certainly a strategy worth exploring. eBay’s affiliate program is absolutely free to join, and can benefit you in a number of ways.

Here are the main ones:

* You earn up to $45 for each “active confirmed registered user” (ACRU) you send to eBay. An ACRU is someone who registers and then bids on or purchases an item on eBay within 30 days of registering.

* You earn between 10 cents and 25 cents for each subsequent bid and Buy It Now purchase by that person.

* The more active registrations, bids, and Buy It nows you drive to eBay, the more money you make as the eBay affiliate program is based on tiered payment structure.

* You increase the exposure of your auctions and drive more traffic to them. If your web site or blog is set up to promote the items you sell on eBay, you can link to eBay from your site and send people to your auctions. Not only do you get a fee from eBay, but you sell more items!

For example, if you sell collectible NBA and NFL action figures, you could run a web site providing information on how to collect them, what to look for, and so on, as well as details of your current auctions, with links to them.

* eBay provides you with tools and assistance — such as banner ads, buttons, logos, and linking tools — to help you make more money as an affiliate.

* The eBay affiliate program is free to join.

Generally, the more work you put into promoting eBay on your web site, the more money you’ll make from it.

How to join eBay’s affiliate program

Joining eBay’s affiliate program is easy, although you do need your own web site or blog. Just go here and fill out an application.

At that URL you’ll also find a host of information, advice and tools and tips to help you maximize your eBay earnings.

Obviously, if you’re an eBay seller, you should direct people to your own auctions and not to those of competitors. But you could also direct people to associated categories that you don’t sell in — perhaps during a slow period when you don’t have to many items for sale yourself.
