We as business owners tend to create sales by looking for new customers. Often times, we fail to talk to our existing customers who are our free resources for creating additional profits to our businesses.
Below, I’ve written this article to discover how to reconnect with your current customer base using the following tips:
Keep the lines of communication open
The most important tool in dealing with your customer base is communication. You need to let your customer base know how much they are appreciated. Once they have ordered from you, you have overcome the biggest obstacle of getting that order. The next step is to offer them additional opportunities to purchase from you again and again.
Keeping the lines of communication open is important to a successful business. You might consider offering them a 10-15% discount on their next order, FREE shipping and/or next day delivery. Develop a solid marketing plan that makes sense to your business needs but also allow your customers to get to know you as a reliable and trustworthy person.
If you offer a product package that is upgraded, such as an eBook, or a same product offered at a different price, let your current customer base know. This is an excellent opportunity to create more sales and profits for you. Provide a product value that will benefit and influence your customer’s purchasing power. Remember, the incentive is to offer them the benefit first then follow up with the sales pitch. This tactic should generate repeat buyers since they know what your product/service can do for them.
Consider and develop your marketing materials by deciding on price, special offers, and how you are going to deliver it to your customer base. For example, write your special offers and sales material on your flyers, email campaigns, website, blog(s), and social media network. You want to be flexible and try a few different methods of marketing to find out which one is successful for your business.
Reconnecting with customers who you’ve sold to before may be intimidating at first. However, ease into this process in a professional and tactful manner. Follow them on their social media sites and introduce yourself.
Ask questions by creating a survey to find out how they have benefited from their initial order of your products/services. This method is a great way to get testimonials. Don’t be afraid to talk to your customers. Get to know their likes and dislikes. Do whatever is necessary to stay connected. If you build a good relationship with your current customer base, they will become customers for life. When you reconnect and recapture this type of information, your profit margins will increase significantly.
Value their time
Customers are too busy to reach out sometimes and a simple email/call to re-acquaint yourself with them is all it takes. Figure out the best times to reconnect and appreciate and value their time.
Keep in mind that your current customers will spread the word about your business to their friends and family so it’s important to be sincere in your approach.
