How much time do you spend telecommuting to your job?

More and more people are finding ways to telecommute with their companies. Companies are also seeing the benefits of this arrangement. Many people find it productive to work 80% of their time at home and only go to the office to pick up mail and/or attending meetings.

The greatest benefit of this new information highway is the ability to work at home supported by the necessary hardware, software, telecommunications and home office supplies. Which leaves the question “Is working at home right for you?”

Convincing an employer to telecommute
Telecommuting when done with integrity is good not only for the telecommuter but also for the company. The following are ideas you might use to convince your employer that telecommuting would be good for your company:

• It saves the employer and employee time
• It might mean that an employer can keep a valuable employee
• It might mean keeping the same hours but without the actual commute to the office
• It might mean that an employer will not have to train another new person

People used to be almost ashamed to admit that they worked from home, but no longer. It is a well accepted fact these days. The thought of combining work and quality family life is appealing to many.

Many people are also opting to start their own businesses as an alternative to working for an employer. Whatever your decision, whether telecommuting for an employer or starting your own business, it is now possible to achieve.
