What it takes to be an entrepreneur!
It has often been stated that an entrepreneur is a risk taker. Although, true to some extent, my definition of an entrepreneur is rather broaden. I believe an entrepreneur is someone who sees opportunities and seizes them, plain & simple!
An entrepreneur has to be a self starter and not depend on others. An example of this would be, when you worked at your regular job your boss dictated what your assignments were no matter how much you hated doing it. Then, on pay day you got your reward. However, as an entrepreneur, you’ll have to find WHAT you want to do, how to do it and WHERE to sell your products/services. As an entrepreneur, you’ll spend more time on YOUR business than you’d ever imagine but you’ll enjoy it better.
As an entrepreneur you will take inventory on your personal skills, your experience, interest and your background. Find a passion and establish a business involving that particular niche. Decide what would be the best business for YOU and whether it will benefit your CUSTOMERS! Your business should be something that you enjoy and is fun rather then feel like work. Find your untapped talents that you can use and start and build your own business at home that is related to your interests. You can begin by making a list of your hobbies, interests, passion for getting ideas. When you do what you love, it is fun!
An entrepreneur should obtain a business license from their local city or town hall. Read the article “Is Your Business Legally Prepared” for tips on how to obtain this vital step!
Another important vital step is learn about computers. If you’ve worked in an office atmosphere, this should come naturally to you. Computers are big now and are continually growing in the area of technology. Learn a word processing program such as Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, Outlook, Ami Pro, etc. You don’t need an expensive computer. There are many used computer stores that sell computers for a low cost. Check out your local computer users group or your local high schools and colleges for low cost training.
